Na de Chinese gerugten in Japan liepen, soude op 't eijlant Lamoa [aan de kust van Zuid-China, bij Swatow] een Hollands schip gesneuvelt sijn waervan seecker Hollandtse vrouw, die eertijts in Taijouan had gewoond, nevens eenige manspersonen, sonder te seggen hoeveel, gebergt waren. Verders wordt uijt Japan gerelateert dat de Opperhoofden van 't fluijtschip Campen in 't zeijlen uijt Toncquin naer Japan, omtrent de noordhoek van Formosa een legger (*) batavishen arack hebben gevischt, ende eenige cruijshouten nevens een combaers sien drijven 't welck twee dagen nae 't vertreck van de Sperwer is geweest; zijnde het denzelven storm die de Trouw (over 't noorderrif stootende) mitsgaders de cleijne lootsboot ende 't gallot Ilha formosa hiervoren gementioneert, hebben aengetroffen: sulcx dat wij (God beter't) het sneuvelen van de voorn. schepen niet dan al te gewis houden. ... Met het sneuvelen van voorn. twee hechte schepen comt de Comp.e f 110. 5 70. 11.3 incoops te missen, hetwelck (God Beter't) aen desen noordcant, daer ons het ongeluck meest alle jaren treft, except de schepen ende 't costelijcke volck al wederom een grooten slag sij.
