After having received my farewell on the 18th of June passado, we have hoisted sail around noon with the Jacht the Sperwer (in the name of God) to continue our journey to Taijouan, where luckily (praise the Lord) came to arrive on July 16, on the outside of the Southern roadstead of the Canal of Taijouan, have only, while passing, called at Poulo Auwer, where we filled our barrels with water with all speed, so that we remained there for half a day, without delay. We met, during our journey very appropriate weather, and is nothing worth mentioning coming to happen. And sent, for the second or the last shipment, also on the 29th following, the Jacht the Sperwer with a cargo with the value of f 38819:14:15: existing of the following, to know, 20007 catty of puchuk 20037 catty of alum 3000 pieces of elk skins 19952 pieces of Taijouanse deer skins 3078 pieces of ibox skins and 92000 catty of powder sugar, being 4000 boxes [crates, chests] . ........Likewise will you Excellencies see in the Resolution of the 21st of July what moved us to send the Jacht de Sperwer instead of the Flute the Trouw thither [Japan], which we hope your Excellencies will not blame us, thus also the same very soon can be send back, to be used to Persia or Suratte, therefor we have ordered the Noble Coijet [Chief in Nagasaki] to dismiss the same for the first shipment hither. ........ Also we lacked on the cargo of the Sperwer 427 bundles of rattan ... addressing Skipper Reijnier Egbertsen, says not to have received any more from the Jacht Sluis, thereabout will be talked furthermore on his arrival at Japan, to give reasons. (Miss. Governor Ceasar and Counsels of Taiwan to the Batavia Government, Bat. Register, dated October 24, 1653).
