Dewijl d. Hr Gouverneur Nicolaes Verburg, volgens allegatie door veele onlustigheeden die Zijn Ed dagelicx boven de bedieninge van zijn lastich ambt voorcomen, heeft hem doen resolveeren om eenmaal uijt de woelinge tot een stil ende gerust leven te comen, zijn demissie om tegens 't aenstaende jaer 1653 naart Patria te keeren doen versoecken 't welck wij Zijn Ed. ten respecte overige tijtsexpiratie niet connen weijgeren, des sullen sorge dragen als den tijt comt dat over dit gouvernement gedisponeert wert, datter een bequaem, wijs, ervaren ende vreedsamich persoon ten meesten dienste van de Generale Comp^e tot vorderinge van dese republijck ende dat groote werck gebruijckt wort, daermede wij dan oock willen hoopen dat veel onlusten die zoowel in 't reguart van geestelicke als politique zedert eenige tijt herwaerts tot ons groot misnoegen in dat Gouvern^o voorgevallen zijn, cesseren zullen....  

General Missive, December 24, 1652

While Mr. Governor Nicolaes Verburg, according allegation by many riots which occurred his Excellency daily above the service of his difficult office, has made him resolve the time has come to request his demise  against the end of the coming year 1653 from the turbulencies to a silent and easy life to return to Patria, which we couldn't refuse his Excellency with respect to the further time expiration, take care that if the time comes that about this government the disposition comes, that there is a skillful, wise , experienced and peace-loving person most serviceable of the General Company to promote this republic and this great work will be used, therewith also want to hope that many riots which both with regard to spiritual as politic since some time hither to our mishap in that Government has happened, will end......
