Op 't versoek onser Opperhoofden om de verlossing onser acht in Corea overgebleven Nederlantse gevangenen met den Sperwer 1653 aldaer verseijlt, sijn seven derselve, alsoo een tsedert overleden was, dit jaer in Nangasackij aen onse Residenten overhandigt, ende met Nieuwpoort uijt Japan verseijlt als wat swack gemant, met meening om deselve aen 't eijland Timon op Buijenskerck over te nemen, dat door toeval soo niet en heeft kunnen bestelt worden. Uijt dit hier aengehaelde, en 't gene verleden jaer sekerlijck sijn bericht dat de Coreers aen de Chinesen contributie betalen, blijckt dat die luijden beijde China, namentlijck en Japan onderdanig sijn of immers den Japander ten minsten ook groot respect draegen.

On the request of our Chiefs about the release our eight in Corea remaining Dutch prisoners with the Sperwer 1653 brought [having sailed] there, are seven the same, thus one already has died, handed over to us this year in Nangasackij, to our envoys, and with the Nieuwpoort sailed from Japan, as being manned weakly, with the opinion the same on the island Timon taken over on the Buijtenskerck, that by coincidence not has been ordered [= has taken place] that way. From the here quoted, and that what certainly is reported that the Coreers pay contribution to the Chinese, seems that those folks are subservient to both China, namely and Japan or after all, pay at least big respect to the Japanese.
