"To announce the victory of the Castillian fortress on Kelangh
to the Japanese Regents, as opinioned to be certain, the same would
please the Emperor, the Quel de Brack is sent on September 11, lastly
from Taijouan to Nangasacqui ...; with the youngest advises
from Japan, being October 10, is nothing heard there from the
Quel yet, trusting shortly thereupon, and before the departure of
Upper Merchant Elseracq, that this will be passed
at the end of ditto [this is December 31] and hope with those
of Taijouan that, as said, it will be a pleasant tiding for the Japanderen,
since being very embittered at the Castilian and Portugees
....
Thus to break off this intention, appears here on the 8th of his month
from Taijouan, the Jacht the Ackerslooth having departed
from there on the 16th of the last of this month with the Chief of
Companies Commerce in Japan, Johan van Elseracq, having left with
the Saijer and he Quel the Brack from the bay of Nangasackij on the
6th and 7th of November in blessing [or with volley] landed
in Taijouan, returning, bringing mainly with it in silver a return
of f 311016. 11. 14 on October 12, the Quel in Japing being
on the road for a month, that in that time is shortly sailed [meaning
that it took a short time to sail]; the conquest of Kelangh
seemed to please the Regents of Nangasacqui very much, such also that
the Governor Sabroseijmondonne, after having
informed himself well, two days after the arriving of the Galliots,
per express, informed the States Counsels in Jedo and is more esteem
made of us. so that decide that the deadening of the Spangeaarden
pleases them much."
"instruction for the field-lieutenant-colonel Johannes Lamotius.
.. In de morning early will Your Honor set sail with the previously
mentioned power in de jachten Wakende Boeij, Nachtegael,
the Quelpaert de Brack and the big pilot boat ... to Panghsoija"
[on Taiwan]. (Zeelandia, December 18, 1642).
