"... met hope (hoewel laet in den tijt is) sulcx per 't Jacht 't Quelpaert, 't welck jongst uijt Nederlandt geseijlt, ende tot dat stormich vaerwater bequaem oordeelen, gevoechlijck geschieden can..."

"... Ondertusschen sal UE. meer aengetogen Quelpaert in Japan aengelandt sijnde, op stondt met Uwe advijsen van den standt derwaerts over (daer nae op 't hoochste verlangen) nae Taijouan largeeren ende laten ons verstaen, als hebben geseijt, dit vaertuijgh t'allen tijden van 't jaer van ende uijt Japan nae Formosa de reijse sal gewinnen, dat ondersocht dient, sijnde onsen staet daeraen ten hoochsten gelegen, soo verhopen oock op ons schrijven ende versoeck d'aenstaende jaer uijt Nederlandt met twee à drie quellen versien te werden."

".... with hope (though being late in time) such per the Jacht the Quelpaert, which recently sailing from the Netherlands, and judging appropriate for that stormy water, properly can be done ...."

"..... In the meantime will your Nobleness send the the more rigged Quelpaert, having landed in Japan, tacking immediately with Your advises about the state [of affairs] hither (since desiring the most) to Taijouan and let us understand, as having said, this vessel will win, at any time of the year, from and to Japan to Formosa, the journey , that examination is needed, being for our state most important, as hoping also on our missive and request the coming year to be provided from Netherland with two to three quellen."
